Waterfront Boat Ramps are Open, But what About those Permits?!
The warm weather beckons boat owners to get to the closest ramp to access the Choptank or Tuckahoe Rivers from Caroline County or neighboring county shorelines. Caroline County does have a boat ramp permit program. The red self-sticking permit is available for purchase at CCRP Office Headquarters and several local businesses. These include Tuckahoe Sportsman on 404 and 480 near Hillsboro, Ridgely Pharmacy, Tiger Mart (Formerly Kinnamon’s Service) in Greensboro, U5 Stores in Preston and Federalsburg, Mary’s Store in Harmony, Bullocks in Denton and the drive through at the Denton Town Office.

Permit cost is $25 for an annual permit and $10 for a daily permit. The 2020 annual permit stickers are to be displayed on the driver’s side within 12 inches of the ramp trailer hitch.

Boat ramp locations that require a permit include the launches at Choptank Marina, Ganey’s Wharf, Hillsboro, and the municipal ramps in Denton – Daniel Crouse Memorial Park, and in Greensboro – the Greensboro Ramp at Choptank River Park. To secure a ramp permit via mail, call CCRP at 410-479-8120.
Choptank Marina Boat Launch Family

Happy customers at the completed Choptank Marina boat ramp on a beautiful Friday. The floating dock makes boating access easy for families and aging adults alike. Construction funding was provided through the State of Maryland Waterway Improvement Program and project coordination by Caroline County Commissioners through the Department of Recreation & Parks.

Park Maintenance on the Tennis Courts

Park Supervisor Mark Lasocha and his assistant Wade Stivers pause the maintenance operations at Preston Tennis Courts located behind Preston Elementary to smile behind their masks. The courts and other county park features are open for play provided physical distancing and hand sanitizing advice is followed. For more information, go to carolinerecreation.org for a list of facilities that are open and restricted within local and community parks.
