Margaret Eloise Downes Melvin, 78 of Camden Wyoming, DE, died on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. Born November 1, 1946, in Caroline County, Maryland, she was the daughter of Charles Henry Downes and Viola Lister Downes.
Eloise married George David Melvin on 12/22/1979. George died on October 27, 2023. They were married 43 years at the time of his passing.
Eloise is survived by her only niece, Ginger Downes Lockhart (Dan) and nephew, Danny Jr. of Ridgely, MD and her son, Eddie Melvin (Michelle), grandsons, Joseph Melvin, Robert Bosley (Samantha) and Noah of Delaware, daughter-in-law Verna Melvin of Missouri, granddaughter, Ashley Melvin Versteeg (Chris) and children of Texas, Aron Melvin (Shana) and children, and grandson Bennie Melvin of Florida.
Eloise was predeceased by her parents, brothers, Paul Allan Downes (Joan Hall Downes) and David H. Downes, her loving husband, George, son David Melvin of Missouri, and their fur baby of 15 years, Cricket
There will be a graveside service on Monday, September 29, 2025 at 10 a.m. at the Greensboro Cemetery, 309 South Main Street, Greensboro, MD, 21639.
