What’s New at the Library?

Your library is still open – online!

Our doors are closed, but our hearts are open! Social distancing means that we are now working hard to make many of our in-person services available online. If you haven’t tried the library’s digital resources, now is the time! Follow us on Facebook to get all the updates and information you need to visit your library virtually. We miss seeing you and look forward to the day we reopen our doors and welcome you back into our buildings.

Until then, if you have a question or need information, just email us at info@carolib.org, send us a Facebook message, or call the Central Library number 410-479-1343, Ext. 106 from 1-5 PM, Monday through Friday. You may get a message that the library is closed. Listen past it and dial extension 106. If no one answers, please leave a message and we will call you back.

We have a new website!

Check out our new, easier-to-use website at www.carolib.org. It features easy access to the resources you need now for school and home, with a focus on all things digital to keep you connected.

Storytime every weekday!

We know you miss seeing Ms. Amanda and Ms. Mina, and that you might be finding it challenging to fill endless days at home with activities for the little ones. But guess what? Ms. Amanda and Ms. Mina are still bringing Storytime to Facebook each weekday morning around 11 AM for fingerplays, songs, and of course, lots of great books!

Just the facts, please

Get trusted, reliable information about Covid-19 at the County’s Emergency Operations Center website, carolinecovid19.org or just access it from the library’s home page while you are there.

Makerspace hard at work making PPE

Our MakerSpace team has not stopped working-they have just moved the 3D printers home and have been hard at work printing out protective face shields for first responders and front-line medical professionals! We are joining makers throughout Maryland in this community effort to supply Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to healthcare workers. We have shared the shields nationally through the Open Works project in Baltimore, and by providing 176 face shields (so far!) to the Caroline Emergency Operations Center for distribution to local nursing homes and others in need.

If you are looking for a way to help out during the Covid-19 crisis, please consider donating to assist with the purchase of materials for these and other planned 3D printed items!

Visit our Friends of the Library page https://carolinefotl.com and click “Donate/Join” at the top of the page. Be sure to check the “write us a comment” box and enter “3D” so we can be sure your donation goes towards this project. Donations may also be mailed to Caroline County Public Library, 100 Market Street, Denton, MD 21629, ATTN: 3D. We are so grateful for the community support and enthusiasm we have received for this project!

Parents, do you need some help with homework?

  • Here are some places to turn on our website to help you with the kids’ school work!
  • Some fun (and possibly just a bit educational) videos for the K-3 set: Bookflix
  • Live tutoring for when you just can’t help with that middle school math: HelpNow!
  • Help for soon-to-be high school graduates with college planning, practice tests, and online book: Testing and Education Resource Center
  • And there is so much more on our new website! Check it out!

Our Community Partners at Work

If you are trying to reach the community partners you normally see at the library, check out the library’s home page, www.carolib.org, and click on “My Family Needs.”
Not only will you find these partners, but also organizations and agencies that provide services in Caroline County. My Family Needs also features up-to-date hour and contact information for food pantries throughout the County.
