PRESTON – A band of explorers from Texas and Washington, D.C. are calling several historic sites on the Eastern Shore home for the week. The group, led by Black Outside, Inc., is biking a stretch of the well-known Underground Railroad corridor from Dorchester County to Caroline County, then up to Delaware, following the Choptank River.
For their first stop in Caroline County, the youth and their adult leaders are camped overnight at Linchester Mill. The Mill is known in Caroline County history as a hot-spot for Underground Railroad Activity.
Over the next couple of days, Black Outside will be biking their way to Martinak State Park and then across the Delaware line. Founder and Executive Director of Black Outside, Alex Bailey, said the Eastern Shore community has been extremely welcoming so far, and they are enjoying their time in the area – specifically the food.
