William Robert Ganley Jr. “Bill” 66 of Greensboro passed away on May 4, 2025, at The University of Maryland Medical Center at Easton.
William was born on September 7, 1958, to William Robert Ganley and Joyce Loretta Ganley in Prince George’s County, Maryland. He graduated from Fort George Meade High School with the Class of 78'. William spent several years working for Burcon and Giant Foods, and he was also a part-owner of Ed's Tree Service. Later in life, he returned to school, attending Chesapeake College and Polytech to study Electrical and HVAC Services, pursuing his passion for hands-on trades. He took great pride in his work and had a natural talent for repairs and mechanical tasks. After Trade School, he worked for Your Comfort Company in Greensboro for many years, then retired from The Calverton School in Huntington, Md, where he was Head of Maintenance and Transportation. Outside of work, William enjoyed playing pool and spending time on projects with his son, that allowed him to work with his hands.
William is survived by his son, William Robert Ganley III (Kimberly) of Denton, MD; his daughter, Casey Noel of Texas; and his granddaughter, Ashley Ganley of Denton, MD. He is also survived by three sisters: Kathy Dumheart (Jimmy) of Southern Maryland, Lynn Wood of Laurel, MD, and Elizabeth Metz of Spencer, WV; as well as two brothers: Henry Ganley of Frederick, MD, and Jimmy Ganley (Shelly) of Spencer, WV.
A memorial will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, P.A.
