Vehicle Restoration to Fit Owner Needs

Posted

Here at K. B. Middleton Repair, we’ve been fortunate to be involved with several antique vehicle repairs, some of which were WW2 military vehicles, including some tanks.  Some of these vehicles went as far as total frame-off restorations.

The exciting part is working with the owner to decide the level of repair or restoration they are looking for.

Some owners want their restoration to be museum pieces that never move.  Some owners want their vehicles operational but seldom move them.  Some owners are active reenactors who use their vehicles at every living history event they can get to.

Though some owners want their vehicle to look fresh off the factory floor, the WW2 military vehicle owners tend to want their vehicle to look like it has been through combat.  For example, one owner said, “Get rid of all the rust but just work out the dents some in the fenders. It’s supposed to look 80 years old.”

Every restoration is completely different, and with every restoration there are tons of things to learn. That’s the fun part for us.

Though we take great satisfaction with the finished product, we here at K.B. Middleton Repair find the journey of the research and repair the most enjoyable.

Here at the shop, we do mostly commercial truck and equipment repair, but the work we do on the antique vehicles is a unique look at how things were built years ago.
