DENTON – The Caroline County Public Library kicked off their summer reading program with a dino dance party and plenty of free goodies on Friday, June 26.
The summer reading program encourages kids to continue exploring the world of reading even when school is not in session. There is also an adult summer reading program – and both offer dino-sized incentives. Anyone who wishes to sign themselves or their littles up for the summer reading program can visit a Caroline County Public Library branch and receive the necessary materials. Kids and adults alike will complete reading-related “challenges”, and, in return, will get rewards ranging from free books and Wendy’s frosties to entries in several grand prize raffles (did someone say Oriole’s tickets?!)
The over 250 people that attended Friday’s kickoff party were treated to pizza and ice cream, courtesy of Pizza Empire and Nice Farms Creamery. Library staff also gave out free hygiene kits and other snacks. Brienne Garland from To the Pointe dance studio led the first dinosaur-themed summer reading program of the season: a dino dance party. Many more pre-historic activities are planned for the rest of the summer.
"We are very grateful for the wonderful turnout for our kickoff party, and we are very thankful for our Caroline County and Eastern Shore community who support the library! All of the staff pitched in for the event," said Zoe Breeding, Caroline County Public Library's Children's Programming Coordinator, and Deja Johnson, the library's Public Services Manager.
