Two men injured in shooting incident near Denton

DENTON – Two men were injured in a reported shooting shortly after midnight, Feb 6, at 28025 Ruritan Road, Denton.

Both men were taken to Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital in Dover with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to a press release posted on the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, deputies responded to a reported shooting and altercation at about 12:25 a.m.

Deputies discovered a 71-year-old male with injuries to his back and head after being shot with a shotgun, and a 68-year-old male with a compound fracture to his left ankle.

The Caroline County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the incident.

No updates were available by 1 p.m. According to Chief Deputy Rodney J. Helmer, more information will be posted to the Office’s Facebook page as it becomes available.
