The Town of Preston shared on Friday, Feb. 28, that new improvements to community parks are in the works.
"Town of Preston James T. Wright Memorial Park 2025 Community Parks and Playground improvement grant was approved in the amount of $127,816.00.
These improvements will include:
-Shade Canopy structure over our paver platform performance stage
-Electric Pole with lights and electric outlets for vendor events
-Tot Lot recommended for ages 0-5
-Sand Lot with two mini play backhoes
Some of these improvements have already been constructed, like the shade canopy and electric pole. The tot lot and sandlot equipment have been ordered and once they are delivered we can start construction!"
Also on Feb. 28, a fresh batch of mulch was spread over Preston playground. The town noted that a grant application has been submitted to do away with the mulch in favor of rubberized playground flooring as well as updated play equipment in 2026.
