The Presidential Medallion Quilt Project

Posted

Throughout our country’s history, quilt makers have honored America’s
presidents in their quilt making. The Fiber Arts Center of the Eastern Shore is
honored to showcase “The Presidential Medallion Quilt Project” which features a
quilt design chronology from George Washington to Joe Biden. Many of the quilts
include campaign slogans, presidential nicknames, and important events that
occurred during their terms in office. These quilts were made by quilt historians
that are affiliated with the American Quilt Study Group.
Each quilt measures 24 inches square and is constructed in a pattern and fabric
historically accurate to the leader’s presidential term of office. The quiltmakers of
this project have created an extraordinary tribute through their interpretation in
fabric and design.
This amazing quilt exhibit of 43 Presidential quilts is available for display at
FACES from July 29 to October 3, 2026. The exhibit was made possible by Sue
Reich, who is a certified AQS appraiser. Sue lectures nationally on a variety of
quilt history topics and we are honored with her help to share this wonderful
exhibit with you!
