Swinging for the fences

Denton Little League Home Run Derby

Posted
Mickey Pullen went out to Denton Little League Park to capture the Denton Little League Home Run Derby on June 13.

Mickey reports, "This was a coach pitch.  The kids got to swing away for 1:30 minutes.   The top 10 players with home runs came back for round two.  The top 3 kids in the second round then went on the final round.  The kid with the largest cumulative Home Run count won."

The winner, identified in the first photo with the teal uniform jersey, had 20 home runs!

Off the Sauce owner Steven Jones wanted to give to the community, so he provided the hamburgers and cooking with donations by Robyn Ritter, owner of The Paper Work Pros, and all the proceeds from the food sales went to the Denton Little League.

Editor's note: The story was updated to reflect the correct number of home runs hit by the winner at 20, up from 17.
