After 24 years of supporting programs that serve families and children as the Executive Director of the Caroline Human Service Council (HSC), Susan Runnels is retiring.
The HSC serves as the county's Local Management Board and is a nonprofit entity that helps coordinate and fund initiatives for improving the well-being of children.
Runnels worked for HSC since 2002, and served as Executive Director since 2010. According to Becky Loukides, a member of the HSC governing board of trustees, Runnels was the only employee at start of her being named as Executive Director, but maintained a level of passion and work ethic to get things done.
Runnels was honored at the Caroline Better Together annual convening. HSC serves as the quarterback agency for funding and programmatic activities for Caroline Better Together.
