Shirley Ann Ross, 91, of Hurlock, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.

Born on May 19, 1935, in Ridgely, Maryland, Shirley was the daughter of the late Fred Guy Buckle and Mary Berkey Buckle. She spent most of her life in the local community she cherished.

In 1954, Shirley married her first husband, Bill, who sadly passed away in 1955. Known for her strong work ethic and determination, she built a successful career over the years, working for McCrord's Laundry, a clothing care center, and Merrimac’s before ultimately becoming the co-owner of Skipjack Cleaners.

Shirley later married Tilghman Lee Ross and devoted herself to raising their family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose greatest joy was spending time with those she loved.

She enjoyed dancing, attending family nights at the Moose Lodge, crocheting, tending her flower gardens, cooking her beloved flatbread, and watching classic western movies. Above all, Shirley treasured her grandchildren and the many memories they shared together.

In addition to her parents and her first husband, Bill, Shirley was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Debbie Cosden, and her five brothers: Fred W. Buckle, Paul Buckle, Frank Buckle, George Buckle, and Richard Buckle.

Shirley leaves behind a lasting legacy through her three sons: Brian Lee Ross (Edie), Warren Aubrey Ross, and Darrel Keith Ross. She is also survived by her sisters, Doris E. Buckle and Anna P. Buckle.

She was the proud grandmother of Lindsey A. Ross, Tyler Lee Ross, Justin Ross, Wade Ross, Hannah Cosden Cody Ross, Kristin Ross, Aaligah Ross, Dalton Ross, Rosalie Griffin, McKinzey Hall, Athena Ross, and Aubreyana Ross and Mayla. She also leaves behind a niece, Diane Jewel and her longtime friend and neighbor, Mrs. Jeanne, along with many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m., with interment immediately following at Greensboro Cemetery in Greensboro, Maryland.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in Shirley's honor.
