Ronald “Ronnie” Vernon Freeman, Sr, beloved husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many, passed away unexpectedly from heart complications on June 13, 2025 at his home in Goldsboro, MD.
Born on May 12, 1950 in Annapolis, Maryland to the late Lawrence V Freeman Jr and Amelia (Millie) Bledsoe where he grew up alongside his brothers, David Freeman and the late Gerald Freeman. He was a 1969 graduate of Annapolis High School. He joined the Air Force following graduation, where he served for 2 years. Upon exiting the Air Force, he became employed by the Naval Academy Fire Department. Following, Ronnie began working at LR Willson & Sons, Inc. as a truck driver where he remained for 25 years. After leaving, he would continue his truck driving career until he retired in 2012. After retirement, Ronnie also worked part-time hauling for Kingdom Horse Trailers where he was currently employed. He was also a volunteer firefighter for the Riva Volunteer Fire Department in his younger years and continued his passion and would later become a member of the Goldsboro Fire Department after moving to the Eastern Shore a few years ago. Ronnie was also recently a member of the American Legion.
Ronnie is survived by his wife, Lynn of 42 years, a son, Ronald Freeman Jr who preceded him in death, son Andy Fletcher, daughter Tammy Baldwin and husband, Danny and grandchildren, Kyle (Courtney) Fletcher, Tyler Fletcher, Colton Baldwin, Becca Fletcher, Kennedy Day (Chris), Chase Baldwin, Taylor and Marley Freeman.
Ronnie was an avid Nascar and Baltimore Ravens fan and most times didn’t miss a Sunday to watch both. He was a member of the Maryland League of Horsemen where he enjoyed riding horses and camping, while spending time in the outdoors usually enjoying a cold beer. He was always up for a good time enjoying life’s simple pleasures with friends or family. He was a laid back and easy-going guy that everyone loved. The time we had with him doesn’t seem long enough and his presence is already truly missed. For those of us lucky enough to have known him, we will forever have memories of a genuine soul, gone too soon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Goldsboro Fire Company, 700 Old Line Road, Goldsboro, Maryland 21636. A Celebration of Life will be held later this fall on September 20, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the American Legion Post 226, 830 Mayo Road, Edgewater, MD 21037.
