Preston wrap up

Preston Town Commissioners swear in newest official, select Commission President and Vice President, and plan Public Budget Hearing

At the May 5 Preston Town Commissioners’ meeting, Scott Messick was sworn in as the newest Preston Town Commissioner. Messick won last month’s town election, unseating incumbent Nelson Anderson. Messick said that he wanted to thank everyone who voted. Commission President Savannah Winston led the oath, during which Messick promised to “diligently and faithfully, without partiality or prejudice, execute the office of Town Commissioner for the Town of Preston.”

In accordance with the town charter, the Commissioners voted to select the next President and Vice President of the Commission. Winston was unanimously elected by the Commissioners in attendance to remain President. As former Commissioner Anderson was the previous Vice President, Commissioner Steve Hildenbrand nominated fellow Commissioner Janice Isenberg to fill the role. Isenberg was also unanimously elected Vice President. Commissioner Daniel Mulford was not in attendance, leading one resident to question the decision to vote on the President and Vice President. Town Manager Amber Korell stated that this was the meeting at which it was to be voted on based on the town charter.

Preston’s Commissioners will meet again on Tuesday, May 20, for a public hearing on the proposed FY26 budget at 6:30 p.m., with their regular workshop immediately following.
