PRESTON – Tracy Harper experienced the feeling of invisibility after a painful breakup, and that experience led her down a path to self-harm.
Years later, through her healing journey, Harper used her experience as the basis for a book, “From Him, Not Them: A Young Woman's Guide to Relying on God for Validation, Identity, and Guidance.”
Harper provides her insights and guidance for women navigating the pressures of modern life, who find themselves caught in cycles of comparison, approval-seeking, and insecurity about their worth. It also exposes the counterfeit guides many follow—like following feelings, striving in self-sufficiency, or stressing over solutions.
“This book is deeply personal, but it's also deeply practical,” Harper says. “It’s for every young woman who has ever asked, ‘Am I enough?’ or ‘Am I on the right path?’ Rooted in Tracy’s 20 plus years of ministry experience with college students, the book invites readers to break free from the exhausting search for validation through appearance, achievement, or approval.
“I’ve seen the same story play out for so many young women,” Tracy explains. “We chase worth through social media likes, romantic relationships, good grades, or leadership roles. But these things can’t meet our deepest needs. That kind of security only comes from Him—not them.”
Tracy Harper calls Preston home, which she shares with her husband and three daughters.
