Not every dog arrives as a finished story.
Some are still mid-chapter, soft around the edges, a little unpolished, still figuring out what comes next. Fortnite is one of those dogs. He’s 2 years old, and yes, he came to us in rough shape. But that’s not the part that defines him. What stands out is what he chose to carry forward anyway.
He’s still happy. Still gentle.Still open to people in a way that feels almost surprising once you know where he’s been.
Fortnite is sweet and affectionate, the kind of dog who leans into you like he’s always belonged there. He’s playful in a slightly uncoordinated, still-learning kind of way like he’s discovering what it means to just be a dog, one piece at a time. And that’s really what this stage is for him. Learning the small things. Settling into routines. Figuring out how the world works when it’s finally kind.
He’s food motivated, knows his basics, and he tries. That effort is there in everything he does. He just needs someone who sees that and is willing to meet him in it. Someone patient, consistent, and ready to help him keep going.
Because the dog he’s becoming is already something special.
Not in a quiet way. In the kind of way that makes you laugh, the kind that’s a little messy, a little goofy, and completely genuine. The kind that grows on you until one day, without even noticing when it happened, he’s not just learning anymore.
He’s yours.
