There is a particular kind of waiting that changes you.
Not the ordinary kind like waiting in line, waiting for a phone call, waiting for the weekend. This is the deeper kind. The kind where life feels paused. Where the world moves forward around you, but your own chapter hasn’t been allowed to begin.
Chance has known that kind of waiting.
For many months, this 3-year-old American Bulldog mix lived in a space between past and future, unable to be adopted while an outside situation worked its way through the courts. None of it was his fault, and none of it made sense to him. What he knew was this: each morning he woke up in a kennel, and each day he chose joy anyway.
He greeted staff with a wagging tail. He leaned into volunteers for affection. He walked beside people as if he already belonged to someone. While time stretched on, Chance kept doing the only thing dogs know how to do, he kept believing the good part was still coming.
And now, finally, it is.
Chance weighs 57 pounds and carries himself with the easy warmth of a dog who genuinely loves being part of someone’s life. He does well with other dogs, enjoys his walks, and forms connections quickly with the people around him. There is a steadiness to him that comes from both his temperament and everything he has lived through.
Chance has carried hope through uncertainty, patience through delay, and trust through circumstances he never created.
Now he is ready for the life that was always meant for him, the one on the other side of the door that has finally opened.
