Noreen Patricia Flohr of Greensboro, MD died peacefully in her sleep on April 3, 2025 after a brief illness. Noreen, aged 93, was born in Claremorris, County Mayo, Ireland. She came to the United States in 1956 to live with her aunt and uncle Delia and Martin Cummings in Upper Montclair, NJ where she met the love of her life, Louis James “Jimmy” Flohr, in 1958. They married on April 8, 1961. Noreen pursued a career in insurance working for American Hardware and later as an underwriter for Selective Insurance. Amongst their many adventures, the couple also owned the Millbrook Inn in Pond Eddy, NY from 1980 to 1986.

Noreen was a loving mother to her daughter, Amy and took great joy in Amy’s career with the U.S. Department of State. Together with her daughter, Noreen became a fan of the New York Mets. After 25 years, Noreen retired from Selective Insurance in 1997 and moved to Greensboro to provide in-home care for Jimmy’s aunt, Amy Fisher. Noreen became a fixture at St. Elizabeth’s and St. Benedict Catholic Church, serving as a Benedictine Oblate and a member of the Church’s Sodality group. Along with Jimmy, she also volunteered at the Benedictine Mission in Ridgely for many years.

Noreen was preceded in death by her parents Martin and Katie McCormack, her brothers Tom and Brendan McCormack and her sister Mary Conroy. Noreen is survived by her brother Patrick McCormack of Clifton, NJ; sisters Katherine “Kit” Burke of Tuam, Ireland and Margaret Theresa Leddy of Jacksonville, Florida; her husband Jimmy of Greensboro, MD; daughter Amy and son-in-law Eric McErlain of Reston, VA, as well as many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

A viewing will be held at Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home in Greensboro on May 12 from 6 pm - 8 pm, followed by a funeral Mass on May 13 at 10:30 am at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Ridgely, MD. In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations to the Benedictine Foundation 14299 Benedictine Lane Ridgely, MD 21660 or Compass Regional Hospice 160 Coursevall Drive Centreville, MD.
