Natalio Nieves, 81, of Ridgely, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on June 16, 2026.
Natalio was born on August 2, 1944, in Puerto Rico to Isidro Nieves and Francisca Santana. As a teenager, he moved to the United States, where he spent many years traveling and experiencing different parts of the country. Throughout his life, he worked in agriculture, a profession he took great pride in.
On October 20, 1984, Natalio married the love of his life, Blanca. Together they built a life on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, making their home in Denton and later Ridgely.
Natalio enjoyed fishing, gardening, and growing plants. He had a talent for repairing broken items and took great pleasure in fixing things and giving them to friends and family. Known as a devoted family man, he cherished time spent with his grandchildren and loved working hard. He also enjoyed sharing a cold beer with loved ones and found simple joy in his favorite canned peppers.
Along with his parents, Natalio was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Blanca.
Natalio is survived by his children: Sandra Cano, Yolanda Munguia (Luis), Diana Cannon (Bryan), Orlando Cano (Kimberly), and Christopher Nieves (Amber). His legacy lives on through his 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his faithful dog, Millie, as well as many lifelong friends who will miss him dearly.
A viewing for Natalio will be held on July 3, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home in Greensboro MD.
