Michael Linwood Barrett was born on September 28, 1964, in Easton, Maryland. He peacefully departed this life on August 4, 2026, in Seaford, Delaware, surrounded by his children, siblings, family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Crosby Sample Sr.; his mother, Charlotte Marie Barrett; and his brother, Leon Barrett.
Michael was educated in Caroline County and graduated from Colonel Richardson High School in 1982. He later served his country in the United States Army from November 7, 1983, to August 8, 1988.
Following his military service, Michael was employed in several roles throughout his life, including work with Mulholland Harper, Pepsi Cola, New Roads, and Burris Logistics, where he was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and dedication.
He leaves to cherish his memory his six children: Rodney Hammond, Antionette Barrett, Mikeisha Barrett, Elijah Barrett, Trevor Barrett, and Charnice Barrett-Watkins (Deangelo).
He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Patrick Dowdell, Malik Jones, Peighton Taylor, Sarai Baker, LillyBell Watkins, Treasure Barrett, Paisley Booker, and Svea Barrett, each of whom will carry a special piece of their granddad in their hearts.
Michael is also survived by his siblings: Harry Sample Jr.; Karen Washington (Charles); Janice Gibbs (Bernard); Patrick Flamer Jr. (Heather); and Annie Northan; his aunts, Sharon Barrett and Cecilia Barrett; his uncle, Clifton Armstrong; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
Though his earthly journey has ended, Michael’s love, laughter, and legacy will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Beyond his education, service, and work, Michael was known and deeply loved for his vibrant spirit. He enjoyed life fully—dancing, singing, laughing, and bringing joy to those around him. His presence lit up every room, and the memories he created will continue to bring comfort and smiles to those who knew him.
