Families of students with disabilities ages 10–21 who live in Caroline County have an exciting opportunity to help their children build skills, confidence, and connections for life after high school through the Maryland Pathways to Partnership Initiative.
The initiative brings together schools, families, community organizations, employers, and other partners to provide students with disabilities greater access to meaningful career exploration, work-based learning, education, training, and employment opportunities. By creating these connections early, students can gain valuable real-world experiences and develop a stronger understanding of the many possibilities available to them after graduation.
For families, this means opportunities to begin planning early for what comes after high school. Students can explore their interests and strengths, develop workplace and life skills, learn about careers, and connect with community and employment partners. These experiences can help students discover possibilities for their future while building the skills they need to become more independent and successful. They can also build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and help students understand how their unique abilities can contribute to their communities.
Families are encouraged to get involved early. Students do not need to know what career they want to pursue. The goal is to give young people opportunities to explore, learn, develop their strengths, and discover pathways that match their interests and goals.
Parents and guardians are important partners in this process. If you have a child or young adult ages 10–21 with a disability who lives in Caroline County, reach out to Lindsey McCormick (mccormick.lindsey@ccpsstaff.org) and ask about Pathways to Partnership opportunities.
Every student deserves the opportunity to discover their strengths, develop their talents, and envision a successful future. Together, we can help Caroline County students with disabilities build a pathway toward greater independence, meaningful employment, and a successful future.
