Margaret A. Lane Powell of Hurlock passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at Life Care at Loftland Park in Seaford, Delaware. She was 91.

She was born on December 5, 1934 in Preston, Maryland the daughter of the late Kenneth Victor Lane and Effie Marian "Midge" Cheezum.

She graduated from Preston High School with the class of 1952. She was married to Donald Lee Powell on October 18, 1952. He preceded her in death on October 24, 2025 after 73 years of marriage.

After living in Norfolk for a few years, the family moved to Hurlock in 1955. and lived on Charles Street for 29 years before building a home on Palmers Mill Road. Margaret worked as a florist and founded Powell's Flowers and later worked for Lucys Flowers and later retired from Countryside Florist until her retirement in 1996.

Margaret was a faithful member of Hurlock First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, Was a Vacation Bible School Director, Trustee, and Children's Church Leader. She was also active in the Women's Missions and sang in the Choir. She accepted the Lord as her savior very early in her life.

In her free time, she enjoyed many hobbies, reading and painting. She especially enjoyed her flowers and working in her yard and garden.

She is survived by two sons: Robert Powell and his wife Carolyn of Hurlock, Dale Powell and his wife Katharine of Mclean, VA, a daughter, Debra Townsend and her husband Gary of York, PA, 4 grandchildren, Christopher Powell and his wife Heather of Hurlock, Julie Everhart and her husband Brian of Belair, Stuart Powell and Claire Powell of Mclean, VA, four great-grandchildren, Morgan Powell and Hayden Powell of Hurlock, MD, Lauren Everhart and Brooklyn Everhart of Belair; a sister Vickie Blades and her husband Wayne of Salisbury and a brother Eddie Lane and his wife Cindy of Federalsburg and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Kenneth Victor Lane, Jr., Nancy Messick and Thomas Lane.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 11:00 at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg. Interment will follow at Junior Order Cemetery in Preston. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00.
