Making "Every Bird Count"

The Town of Denton, the Caroline County Bird Club, the Caroline County Garden Club, Leaf & Bed, and Wild Ones Delmarva made the most of the 2026 World Migratory Bird Day Theme – “Every Bird Counts” on August 21st and 22nd at Caroline Summerfest. Promoting World Migratory Bird Day to the community is a requirement for being a Bird City Maryland town and Summerfest was the perfect opportunity to celebrate migratory birds (and birds in general)! There are many ways we can help birds as they make their migratory journey, some of which are protecting birds from glass collisions and free roaming cats and promoting bird friendly habitats with native plants.

The Caroline County Bird Club, the Caroline County Garden Club, Leaf & Bed, and Wild Ones Delmarva hosted a booth at the festival, providing information about native landscaping opportunities, how to turn your yard into a bird friendly habitat, ways to protect birds from glass collisions and free roaming cats, as well as introducing booth visitors to the 2026 World Migratory Bird Day theme – “Every Bird Counts”. A bluebird nesting box, as well as baskets of native plants, seeds, bird safe coffee, and window decals to prevent glass collisions were raffled off to 4 lucky winners.
