Local Baseballers Complete the Season with Two State Tournament Runs

Denton Little League and the American Legion Post 29 send two Caroline teams to states

The 2025 baseball season has officially come to a close for Caroline County’s young athletes, with two standout teams advancing to state championship tournaments.

The Denton Little League’s Majors All Stars secured their place in the Maryland State Little League Tournament after clinching the District 6 title on July 12. Their 10-4 win over South Caroline’s Majors All Stars pitched them into the state-level competition held the following weekend in Salisbury.

Denton’s Majors kept the momentum rolling at states, with a 14-2 win against Southern Baltimore and a 13-1 win over Chesapeake City. They eventually made it to the final four of the state tournament before being eliminated. “Even though their journey is over, Denton Little League board members, families, fans and friends are SO proud of this team! They made it further than any other Majors All-Star team has in 26 years. They worked hard and remained poised through the season, representing District 6 and our community well. They have a lot to be proud of!” the organization shared on Facebook.

Across the county, Caroline’s older players had their own shot at championship glory through the American Legion Baseball program, representing local Post 29. “American Legion Baseball is a national institution facilitated by the American Legion Organization,” said Coach and longtime organizer Travis Breeding.

Their season ended on Saturday, July 26 after a loss to Post 276 in their respective tournament, but not before winning the North Eastern Shore District in a hard-fought best-of-three series against Talbot. Caroline took the first two games 5-4 and 3-2, claiming the district title for the region that includes Kent, Queen Anne’s, Talbot, and Dorchester counties.

Caroline Post 29 is now entering its 65th year of continuous participation in Legion baseball. “As one of the longest continuous American Legion Baseball programs on the Eastern Shore, there have been multiple generations of family members play for Caroline Post 29, which helps with recruiting. Due to the consistency of the program, teens and young men have committed to playing,” Breeding added.

He also emphasized the values the program instills: “The main purposes of American Legion Baseball is providing young men with an opportunity to play very competitive baseball locally and to teach a respect for our country and the men and women that have served in our military.”

As the sun sets on another successful season, Caroline Review congratulates all of Caroline County’s ballplayers for their hard work and outstanding performances in 2025.
