Kate B. Breeding 94 of Greensboro, MD., passed away peacefully at The residence of Eden Green on April 17, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Kate B. Breeding was born on February 23, 1932, in Goldsboro, MD to the late Oscar Bishop Sr. and Elnora Richard Bishop. She attended Greensboro High School, graduating class of 1949. She continued her education, graduating from Wesley Jr. College in 1951 and from the State Teachers College at Towson in 1953. She then began teaching at the elementary school in Greensboro and in 1954 volunteered as a counselor/teacher at Camp Pecometh. The summer of 1955, she worked as a Methodist youth Caravanner in Central New York.
On June 17, 1956, she married George "Ray" Breeding and resided in Greensboro. The following year, Mrs. Breeding took a leave of absence from teaching to come home to raise her family. In 1964, she returned to teaching, working as a substitute teacher at Greensboro Elementary School. In 1988, she began as an Instructional Assistant with the Caroline County Board of Education at Greensboro Elementary School. She retired in 1994.
Mrs. Breeding was involved with St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Greensboro, where she played the hand bells and was a past chairman of education, Sunday School Teacher and sang in the choir. She has served on Two boards for the conference of United Methodist Church; Camping and Retreat Ministries, for 20 years, and Ordained Ministry, serving as secretary. She and her husband were very involved with the local Methodist camps: Camp Pecometh and formerly at the Drayton Retreat Center.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Breeding is preceded in death by her husband, Ray and her twelve siblings: Leroy Bishop, Edger Bishop, Louis Bishop, Edith Melvin, Ellen Mackey, Milton Bishop, George Bishop, Alice Bishop, Priscilla Bishop, Oscar Bishop Jr. Jacob Bishop and Elnora Jackson.
Kate is survived by her five children: Faye (Kenny) Harris, Alan (Joy) Breeding, Dawn (Joel) Pearce, Glen (Janine) Breeding, and Sara (Billy) Darling. She also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, four great great-grandchildren. Kate wished to give special recognition to her caregiver, Mary Sellers.
A celebration of life will be held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Greensboro, MD at 1:00 p.m., with a visitation from 12 to 1pm with the family. Interment will be private.
