Jacob Mitchell Thomas Jr., 74, of Greensboro, MD, passed away at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Easton on July 11, 2025.
Born on September 4, 1950, in Milford, DE, Jake was the son of the late Jacob M. Thomas Sr. and Gertrude Malinda Thomas. A lifelong resident of Greensboro, Jake graduated from North Caroline High School in Ridgely, MD, with the Class of 1969.
A hardworking and self-made man, Jake founded and operated Thomas Construction, where he took pride in his craftsmanship and dedication to his clients. He was a proud member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 626, where he built lifelong friendships and a respected reputation. Jake enjoyed family gatherings and supporting the grandchildren in all their activities.
Jake stood strong in his faith and worshiped at Greensboro Baptist Church.
Jake was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Orville Thomas and Greg Thomas.
He is survived by his loving wife, Vickie Dodd Thomas of 42 years, and his five children: Greg Thomas (Julie) of Easton. Jacob Thomas of Denton, Matthew Thomas (Kathy) of Denton, Ethan Thomas (Shelby) of Ridgely, and Sara Osborne (Bradley) of Greensboro. Jake’s legacy lives on through his eleven cherished grandchildren: Garrett, Mackenzie (Scott), Darby, Makayla (Ryan), Brennan, Aubrey, Hayden, Waylinn, Wyatt, Walker, and Olivia, and one great-grandchild, Dawson.
He is also survived by two brothers, Joe Thomas and Ernie Thomas along with four sisters: Bonnie Blades, Georgeann Potter, Connie Jones, and Michelle Kibler.
In addition to his loving family, Jake is survived by Roscoe Clough, a young man he considered family. Jake was privileged to share his carpenter knowledge with Roscoe from a young age.
A visitation will be held at Greensboro Baptist Church on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. Interment will take place immediately after the service at Greensboro Cemetery.
