The Maryland National Guard is currently staged in several areas throughout Caroline County to assist with storm response efforts. They are working alongside local crews to help clear the roads and ensure emergency personnel can reach anyone experiencing a medical or urgent emergency situation.
Road conditions remain hazardous in many areas. We strongly urge residents not to travel unless absolutely necessary. Limiting travel allows road crews and emergency responders to work safely and efficiently.
As the storm continues, please keep the following safety tips in mind:
Avoid Travel: Stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary.
Prepare for Power Outages: Charge devices, use flashlights instead of candles, and keep refrigerators closed.
Stay Warm Safely: Dress in layers. Never use ovens, grills, or generators indoors. Keep generators at least 20 feet from doors and windows.
Check on Neighbors: Especially elderly residents and those with medical needs.
Prevent Frozen Pipes: Allow faucets to drip slightly and open cabinet doors under sinks.
Shovel Safely: Take breaks and avoid overexertion.
Call 911 for Emergencies Only: Report outages directly to your utility provider.
Please continue to monitor official County channels for updates.
