Louis, born in Denton, Maryland on June 19, 1932 to Roland and Anna Griffith, grew up in a tight-knit family. His relationship with his brothers Roland Jr, now deceased, and Mitchell were a mainstay of his life. He met his first wife Margaret Wylie in Paris when he was serving active duty in the Army and they married a short time later. They built an active life together, residing first in New Jersey and briefly in Massachusetts. They settled in Hampstead, NH, where they raised four children and were beloved members of the Congregational church.
After graduating with a degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey Louis embarked on a long and creative career, eventually focusing on technology to improve printing presses. In 1975 he launched his own company, Digital Image Corporation, a decision that would take him on business trips around the world. He often recounted tales from his travels to Japan, Sweden and Switzerland. He held patents for inventions including font support for phototypesetting and cleaning devices for printed circuit boards.
Over his long life he pursued many passions including travel, classical music, cross-country skiing, nature hikes, bird watching, star gazing and jogging. He is survived by his four children: Laura Washington, Victoria Griffith, John Griffith and Janet Moran; his brother Mitchell Griffith and sister-in-law Margaret Griffith; his second wife Sandra Griffith; and seven grandchildren.
