HOBBS – A fire shortly before noon Sunday, March 2, at 26299 Sennett Road destroyed “high valued
industrial equipment” according to a March 3 report published by the Maryland Office of the State Fire
Marshal. No injuries were reported.
The fire originated on a work bench in the garage owned by William Towers, who discovered it.
“Several electronic appliances and lithium-ion batteries were located on the work bench,” the report
stated. “The fire resulted in the total loss of high valued industrial equipment that was being stored in the
garage by the occupant.”
The 40-foot by 80-foot garage is attached to a single-family home. The fire marshal estimated the damage
at $400,000 to the structure and $300,000 to the contents.
The 11:23 a.m. fire was controlled in 40 minutes by 25 firefighters with the Denton Volunteer Fire
Company.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
