Helping to Prepare Future-Ready Students Through Career-Connected Learning

Posted

The future of Caroline County's workforce is sitting in our classrooms today, and Caroline County Public Schools (CCPS) is inviting our community to help prepare the next generation of leaders, skilled professionals, and innovators.

Through its Work-Based Learning (WBL) program, modeled after the Maryland State Department of Education's Career-Connected Learning Guidelines, CCPS is connecting students with meaningful career experiences that bridge classroom learning with the world of work. From career fairs and guest speakers to workplace tours, job shadowing, internships, and youth apprenticeships, students gain valuable insight into careers while developing the professional skills employers value most.

These experiences are only possible because of the generous support of local businesses, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and community partners who invest their time, expertise, and mentorship in our students.

There are many ways to get involved. Employers can host a workplace tour, speak to a classroom about their career journey, provide job-shadowing opportunities, mentor students, offer internships or apprenticeships, or participate in a career fair. Whether you can give one hour or one semester, your involvement can have a lasting impact on a young person's future.

Work-Based Learning is more than career exploration—it's workforce development. By partnering with CCPS, you help students build confidence, develop employability skills, and discover career pathways that strengthen both their futures and the economic vitality of Caroline County.

Together, we can ensure every student graduates with the knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to thrive in college, careers, military service, or the workforce.

CCPS is creating pathways that allow every student to envision a successful future. If you or your business would like to partner with Caroline County Public Schools, please reach out to Jason Bruns at bruns.jason@ccpsstaff.org for additional information.
