Halloweekend Around Caroline County

Posted

Happy Halloween! If you’re anything like me, you’re rejoicing that the holiday is on a Saturday this year. But beyond the timing being convenient for parents, it also allows for a little more flexibility for fun activities around Caroline.

To kick off what I am affectionately calling Halloweekend, Downtown Denton Main Street is hosting its Pumpkin Palooza on Friday, October 30. This includes a family-friendly Halloween parade at 5:00 p.m. that will travel down 5th Avenue and Market Street, culminating in a community vendor event at the lot cornering 3rd and Market Streets. The Pumpkin Palooza will run until 9:00 p.m.

For those closer to the southern end of the county, the Town of Federalsburg is having a trunk or treat event also on October 30 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the parking lot off Morris Avenue.

On Halloween night, all of Caroline County’s towns will of course be taken over by trick or treaters. But some towns have some extra special spookiness going on this year!

Greensboro will be holding a Halloween house decorating contest, which will be judged starting on October 31 at 6:00 p.m. Greensboro’s Police Chief Prendi Garcia is in charge of deciding which house deserves the 50 dollar La Delizia gift card grand prize. The Greensboro Historical Society is also getting in on the fun with their Greensboro After Dark Halloween History Hunt, which is open to all ages and encourages residents to look out for haunted history during their trick or treating travels. The scavenger hunt will begin and end at the Greensboro Historical Society’s new headquarters, 609 West Sunset Avenue, with a start time of 6:00 p.m.

The Federalsburg Lions Club will continue the Halloween celebration even after trick-or-treating ends with a free movie night at Chambers Memorial Park. During this year’s film selection, Minions and Monsters, there will also be a kids costume contest and free hot dogs. All you ghouls have to bring is a lawn chair or blanket to sit on while you enjoy the movie!

And without further ado, here are the official trick-or-treating times for each of Caroline’s towns. We at Caroline Review.News wish you a happy and safe Halloween!
