GREENSBORO – Since the Town of Greensboro announced that Greensboro’s Chief of Police, Lenox Trams, resigned, community members have voiced concerns on social media about the future of public safety and municipal government in Greensboro.
In a Facebook post on Friday, May 22, the Town of Greensboro said, “The Mayor and Council are announcing the resignation of Greensboro Chief Lenox Trams. We thank Lenox for his service and dedication to the Town of Greensboro and wish him luck in all of his future endeavors. The Town will work collaboratively with the Maryland State Police and Caroline County Sheriff’s Office to ensure continued coverage of the Town while we seek to fill the Chief position.” The Town then posted job listings for both the Chief of Police and a part-time administrative staff member for the Greensboro PD on Facebook on May 24.
The announcement drew disappointment and questions from community members, many voicing their intent to speak at the Town of Greensboro's June 4 Town Council meeting.
