In a mid-morning Facebook post on Monday, June 2, the Town of Greensboro announced the newest addition to their staff, Cynthia Yost. Yost will fill the position of town manager, which has been vacant since the departure of former Town Manager Tammy Kelledes last March. Deputy Town Manager Jaime Fowler has been acting as Greensboro Town Manager in the meantime.
According to the post, Yost “is a dedicated professional leader with 30 years of medical management, budget and finance experience, 5 years as director-medical staff services and 2 years as District Office Manager at the Maryland General Assembly, with experience in grants, constituent services and legislation.”
Yost is a graduate of North Caroline High School. She went on to receive a degree in Business Administration from the now-defunct Kennedy Western University, also known as Warren National University, a private distance learning institution based in California. The Town of Greensboro said in the post that she has “managed and budgeted high-volume practices and provider services, provided organizational and innovation to streamline processes and wrote policies and procedures to comply with regulatory requirements,” and the Town is “looking forward to the future of Greensboro!”.
Yost’s hiring announcement comes just before the scheduled June 5 Town Council meeting, where topics like the FY26 budget and the possible relocation of the Greensboro Historical Society are on the agenda. Comments on the Facebook post were congratulatory, with one commenter writing, “you certainly have your work cut out for you, but I hope you succeed at this job, we need it!”
