RIDGELY – Four candidates met the April 7 deadline to file for two open seats on the 3-member Ridgely Town Commission. The election will take place from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 28.
Incumbent John Hurley was elected to a 3-year term in 2024. He has served on the commission since 2012.
The 3-year term of Commissioner John Buckle, who has served since 2013, expires this year.
Brad Sears was appointed to fill former Commissioner Anthony Casey’s unexpired term in July 2024 and is running to remain in office for a 3-year term.
According to the town charter, the candidate who receives the highest number of votes will serve a 3-year term; the runner-up will fill the last year of an unexpired term.
After losing to Hurley last year by 16 votes, Chad Leister is throwing his hat in the ring for another try. New to the race is James Romph.
Ridgely Commission elections are held annually.
