Federalsburg Activities Center Holds Grand Opening

FEDERALSBURG – “What you see today is the result of prayers being answered by our loving God and a group of people who had a dream.” These were the words of Pastor Pam Bockart, Executive Director of the Federalsburg Activities Center. The Center held its official grand opening ceremony on October 13, 2026.

The Center is housed in an abandoned Dollar General store in the center of town. Chaplain Ron James explained during the grand opening that, at first, the Board rented the building from the owner for a generous $1 a year. But after struggling to receive grant funding as tenants, they worked to purchase the building, and this ceremony just so happened to fall on the exact date five years ago that the group received their building permit to further renovate the space.

The Federalsburg Senior Center, Men for Change, Church of the Nazarene, Marshyhope Church, and soon, the Boys and Girls Club of the Eastern Shore, all use the Activities Center for their regular community programs. State Senator Johnny Mautz spoke of the importance of the Center’s outreach during the ceremony, “It’s not about today. It’s about what we do with this room and how we’re going to fill this room,” he said. Mautz presented a Maryland Senate citation to the volunteers and partners of the Center, recognizing their hard work, dedication, and perseverance.

Despite already using the space to host numerous organizations, programs, and events, Bockhart said that “this is only the beginning” for the Federalsburg Activities Center.
