Elnora Bishop Jackson, 87, of Denton, Maryland, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 2, 1938, in Dover, Delaware, she was the daughter of Oscar Bishop, Sr. and Elnora Richard Bishop.

Elnora graduated from Greensboro High School in 1956 and earned her teaching degree from Towson State Teacher’s College, now Towson University, in 1960. Shortly after graduation, she began teaching a combined first and second grade class in Greensboro. While teaching, she met and married her husband, Wilmer W. Jackson, on June 14, 1961. They were devoted to each other for 52 years.

After her teaching career, Elnora and Wilmer operated a grocery store for several years before she later ran a home daycare until retiring. She was devoted to her family, actively participating in school PTA, Band Parents, Girl Scouts, and Little League while raising her children. Her love and support continued as she attended countless activities for her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters Karen Richter and husband Tim of Goldsboro, and Kim Van Buren and husband Kent of Laurel, Delaware; stepson Gary Jackson and wife Decca of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren Lynn Winstead (Mallory), Jason Richter (Amanda), Amy Richter, and Hannah Whelan; great-grandchildren Morgan, Savannah, LJ, Liam, Caelum, and Marcus; and sister Kate Breeding of Denton. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son Kenneth Jackson and siblings LeRoy Bishop, Edgar Bishop, Louis Bishop, Milton Bishop, George Bishop, Oscar Bishop Jr., Jacob Bishop, Edith Melvin, Ellen Mackey, Alice Bishop, and Priscilla Bishop.

A service will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, 106 West Sunset Avenue, Greensboro, Maryland. Family and friends may visit one hour prior at 11:00 AM.
