A new Mexican restaurant will open in October at 5 N. 3rd Street, downtown Denton, in the former Earth Tones location. According to the owners Guadalupe (“Lupe”) Galindo and Carlos Olvera, hospitality, good food, and family atmosphere are what you can expect at “El Chupakabra. “

The menu will be authentic Mexican food: tacos, soups, salads, burritos, quesadillas and more, all made with fresh ingredients. For dessert they will offer bread pudding, Mexican ice cream and Churros. There will be a selection of mixed drinks for adults - Mojitos, Crushes, Margaritas, Tequila shots and beer.

Galindo and Olvera met in their home country Mexico as teenagers, moved to the United States, and have been married over 20 years. They started working together in the food service business as cooks, wait-staff, and general manager before opening Lupe’s Denton Pizza a few years ago. Two of their four sons work in the restaurants - Juan and Alejandro work at the pizza restaurant.

Carlos and Lupe, seasoned restaurateurs, have pursued their dream to be small business owners. Their 20 years working long and hard have given them the skills and the endurance needed for a thriving small business. “We are a team” Carlos says pointing to his partner, Lupe. “She is the people person and the chef; I’m just the visionary behind the scenes.”

Their son Juan follows their example and he plans to continue operation of Denton Pizza even after Lupe opens El Chupakabra. Brother Alejandro will help out at the new place answering phones and taking orders.
