Daniel Haines, 84, of Goldsboro MD died at Bayhealth Medical Center on December 12, 2025.

Dan was born in Elk Township in NJ, on December 13,1940, the son of Benjamin Haines and Lillian Blum.

Dan began his work in farming at a very young age with his father and continued in the farming industry as a farm machine mechanic. Over the years he worked for many years at H&E Equipment and Hoober Equipment. Although those were his “employers” many local farmers would reach out to him directly anytime they had an issue with a piece of equipment and Dan was quick to respond to help a friend. He truly enjoyed his work, the people he worked with, and the time spent with the farmers.

There wasn’t much he could fix, and that goes far beyond just farming. He tinkered in woodwork, loved gardening and working on any project that Janice came up with.

Dan retired in 2006 from Golf Cart Sales and Service and enjoyed his retired years alongside his wife, Janice, helping her babysit their grandson Luke and teaching him everything he knew. They also enjoyed spending time with friends and many Saturday nights dances at the local VFW’s, Legion’s and Moose Lodge’s. He continued to “farm” his garden every year that he took great pride in.

He is preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Janice Haines, brother Thomas and his parents. He is survived by his sister Judy Venuto, children Heather Donophan, Daniel Haines Jr., Kathy Howton, Hilary Cowley and stepchildren Chip Taylor and Jen Taylor. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will take place on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Greensboro Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome to attend.
