Happy 250th birthday, America!
A milestone like this has to be celebrated, which is why several municipalities, organizations, and individuals have planned community events centered around the holiday. There are also plenty of opportunities for Caroline Countians to visit local historic sites and museums as we recognize the importance of history and our place in it. Below you will find a guide to how you can celebrate this historic Independence Day for the entire month of July with friends, family, and neighbors. Here’s to a fun, safe, and happy Fourth!
250th Commemorative Dedication
The Sons of American Legion, Squadron #29, Denton, will dedicate a custom designed black, polished granite monument, acknowledging the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence at the Caroline County Courthouse on July 4, 2026. The program starts at noon and includes a rendition of the national anthem and “America the Beautiful” by John Coleman, remarks from Sons of American Legion commanders and local government leadership, and the reveal of the monument. The event is free and open to the public.
