For Cheryl Beulah, without the Caroline Foundation’s generosity, “Aaron's Place would be struggling to survive. End of discussion.”
Aaron’s Place is a community resource center, which recently celebrated moving to “an exciting and wonderful location at the former Family Support Building at 100 N 6th Street in Denton… At this location, we are able to better serve our community by increasing accessibility, improving distribution efficiency, and creating a welcoming environment where neighbors can receive support with dignity and respect,” Beulah said.
Aaron’s Place’s main goals are to address food insecurity and social determinants of health. They provide a food pantry at their headquarters as well as multiple satellite food pantries throughout Caroline County, and a weekly Soup Kitchen where anyone can get a hot meal. Taking their mission of feeding hungry bellies a step further, Beulah said they strive to provide healthy ingredients and a proper education in nutrition, wellness, and fitness so that underserved populations can still keep themselves healthy. Aaron’s Place hosts a wide range of free health-related resources, from Holistic Therapy to Diabetes Prevention to Fitness courses. “Aaron's Place is always striving to educate individuals and families on improving lifestyles and making positive changes.”
These are just a few examples of the services Aaron’s Place provides. They also have a Mommy and Me program, a Senior group, and they help connect unemployed or underemployed individuals with job training in various career paths, just to name a few more.
“Getting the grant from Caroline Foundation for us means survival. The majority of our funding limits us to only food purchases,” Beulah said, “There are non food items that need to be purchased: packaging supplies, light bills, operational costs, eviction preventions.” Even though Aaron’s Place has a dedicated fleet of 36 volunteers (including Beulah), “there are expenses to running a food pantry and unrestricted funds are needed.”
“[The] Caroline Foundation is a lifeline for the food pantry,” said Beulah.
