Many people don’t realize that Caroline County Humane Society is the only open-admission shelter in Caroline County. What does that mean? It means we say yes—we take in all cats and dogs from Caroline County, working closely with Animal Control to care for animals who come to us as strays, cruelty cases, and owner surrenders.
Thanks to our aggressive spay/neuter and TNR efforts, we are proud to share that our cat intake numbers have decreased, making a real, lasting impact on our community.
Even more exciting, we achieved a live release rate of over 90% in 2025—an incredible accomplishment made possible through dedication, teamwork, and compassion.
We are deeply grateful for our hardworking staff and devoted volunteers, whose tireless efforts save lives every single day. And most of all, we thank our community for your continued support. None of this would be possible without you.
Together, we are making a difference—one life at a time.
