GREENSBORO – After a busy town election season, Pete Brelia and Kimberly Ernest have come out on top.
The seats of Councilmembers Pete Brelia and Christina Robinson were up for grabs this election cycle. Voting was held on Tuesday, November 4, at the Greensboro Town Meeting room. Votes were counted by Greensboro's three election judges as up to 70 people watched via Facebook Live. Tallying the votes took over an hour, with Greensboro Police Chief Lennox Tramms assisting in the process.
Incumbent candidate Pete Brelia secured his Council seat once again. A resident since 1979, Brelia has spent his career serving the community as a former Police Chief, Paramedic Lieutenant, and current Greensboro Town Council member. In candidate statements conducted by the Town of Greensboro, Brelia said his focus remains on continuing improvements to the town’s infrastructure and ensuring progress for the place he’s proud to call home.
Kimberly “Kim” Ernest has won a position on the Council for the first time. According to candidate bios collected from the candidates, Ernest has been a Greensboro resident since 2018, and she brings years of financial expertise and community involvement to the council, including service on the Greensboro Parks and Recreation Board. She plans to prioritize transparency, inclusion, and sound financial decision-making as she works to strengthen the town’s economic foundation.
Both Brelia and Ernest secured 82 votes, with candidates Paula Turner and William Schaffner falling short with 78 and 76 votes, respectively. A total of 319 votes were cast. Chief Tramms received one write-in vote.
