Betty Lou Ziesel of Harrington, DE went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 25, 2025 after a short battle with heart disease. She was 84. Betty was a loving wife, dedicated mother, and wonderful friend.
Betty was born on February 6, 1941 in Goldsboro, MD to Dorothy Mitchell. Betty’s mother later married James Whited who adopted her and raised her as his own. When Betty was a young child, they moved to Galveston, IN where she attended Jackson Township schools. After high school Betty married and raised her three sons. Betty returned to Goldsboro in the late 1980’s and spent most of her career working as a toll attendant for the Delaware Department of Transportation. On March 4, 1992 Betty married Ramie Ziesel and they built a life together. Betty loved sewing, dancing and was an avid reader. She was an active member of the Avenue United Methodist Church in Milford, DE where she attended Bible studies, participated in women’s group, book club, and writing group. Betty enjoyed going to dinner, visiting Virginia Beach, and spending time at home with her beloved dog Mikey.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Ramie Ziesel, her sons James Johnson of Texas, David Johnson of Virginia, Dean Johnson of Delaware, a grandson Sean Johnson of Virginia, her brother William (Virginia) Jones of Greensboro, MD, nieces and nephews James Ziesel, Wendy Ziesel, Cheryl Jones, Brian Jones, Gary Jones, Beth Jeffers (Dan), Dan Jones (Nicole), and Mary Baker (Mike).
A celebration of life will be held at a future date at the Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church Street, Milford, DE 19963 where friends and family may gather. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Betty’s
