Adkins Arboretum welcomes the public to celebrate nature, art, and community at their free event on Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Explore opportunities to discover the many programs and experiences offered at the Arboretum, while enjoying complimentary refreshments.

Anna Harding and Kelly Sverduk of the Botanical Art League of the Eastern Shore (BALES) will demonstrate the art and science of botanical art. Diane DuBois Mullaly will demonstrate nature journaling. Jodie Schram will share about her First Friday Healing Walks. Visitors can also enjoy the Arboretum’s 2026 Juried Art Show and sale, featuring outstanding regional artwork. Hands-on nature activities for kids will give young explorers the chance to learn about local ecosystems.

Birder Jim Wilson will be leading two early morning bird programs, The Dawn Chorus at 6 a.m. and a Spring Migration Bird Walk at 8 a.m. The Arboretum’s Bird Monitoring Team will bird on the Wetland Bridge during the Open House. Arboretum Docents will lead a First Saturday Walk on the trails at 10 a.m., and Tina Jones from the Delmarva Pride Center will lead the monthly Pride Nature Walk at 11 a.m.

New and renewing members who join on this day will receive a reusable Adkins-branded cup. We will also offer a 20% discount on Adkins logo-merchandise for all who attend the event. Membership support is vital to sustaining the Arboretum’s conservation, education, and community programming. Membership rates will increase on July 1, 2026, for the first time in over twenty years, so please consider joining.

Thanks to the generous support of The Caroline Foundation, any Caroline County resident who identifies as low-income can become an Arboretum member at no cost.
