Alfred Leon Wilson Sr., affectionately known as “Al”, was born on August 10, 1958, to the late Robert Henry Wilson and Geneva Williams in Kent County, Maryland, and was the only child from this union.  He was called to eternal rest and gained his wings at his home in Ridgely, Maryland on Tuesday, April 4, 2025, at the age of 66.

His mother moved to Delaware where he received his early education in the Delaware public school system.  He attended Drew Pyle Elementary School, Bancroft Middle School, and graduated from Howard High School in 1977 where he played football and was the captain of the team.  After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Army in January of 1978 and was stationed in El Paso, Texas.  He earned several achievements which included rifle and grenade expert, received a good conduct medal, and was honorably discharged in January of 1981.  Continuing his love for the sport of football, Al played semi-professional football in 1984 for the New Castle County Raiders and the Wilmington Trojans from 1985-1987.  He held the linebacker position and was the team captain on both teams.  Al worked various jobs including a security officer at the Concord Mall, Foot Locker for 10 years, and Hanover Foods where he retired in 2021.

Al was well liked by many and was a kind and good man despite the challenges he faced.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  He loved dancing, partying, playing cards, and traveling.  He was one to make everyone around him laugh with his jokes and stories of his family members, especially the story of how Aunt Anne got pregnant with cousin Timmy (if you know you know).  Everyone who knew Al knew he LOVED to dress, and so much that he won the Best Dressed Award while traveling on a cruise. He also loved to smell good and was known to wear his favorite cologne, Obsession.  Al was a DIE-HARD Eagles fan and would always talk on the phone with friends and family during the game, fussing when they would mess up or celebrating their wins.

Alfred was preceded in death by a special cousin, raised more like siblings, Ruth Ann Smith.  He leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter, Tyrea Nicholson of Wilmington, DE, two sons, Rahsaan Gee of Wilmington, DE and Alfred L. Wilson Jr. of King of Prussia, PA; seven grandchildren, Tahzjhire Nicholson, Tanai Nicholson, Tenia Nicholson, Tyler Nicholson, Cayden Gee, Cameron Wilson, and Riley Wilson; cousin Barbara Fisher (William), who became a mother-like figure; best friend, more like a brother from another, Alfred (Tokei) Huggins Sr., one aunt, Joan Redwood (Chris); and a host of cousins and friends.
