9/11 Community Service of Remembrance Held on Courthouse Green

Posted

Less than a month after 2,977 people were killed in the September 11 terrorist attacks, Allan Jackson sang, “Where were you when the world stopped turning, on that September day?” That question has been asked amongst Americans every September since, and anyone who was old enough at the time can still tell you exactly where they were. But on this September 11, 25 years later, where were you?

Dozens of first responders, community leaders, and neighbors spent the morning of September 11, 2026, in the pouring rain outside the Caroline County courthouse. They gathered to pay tribute to the lives lost, commemorate the bravery of the first responders and everyday citizens who put their lives on the line to help others, and to hear words of wisdom and comfort on this tragic anniversary.

The event is memorialized in these photos, and within the hearts of those who attended.
