Virginia Cahall was as kind and strong as they come

Caring and kindness, honesty and straightforwardness, longevity and a life well-lived; these are the qualities of an extraordinary human. According to friends and family, Virginia Cahall was an extraordinary woman.

“She was the most influential woman in my life,” says daughter-in-law, Robin Cahall.

Virginia Winnie Cahall died on March 9, 2025, at the age of 90, surrounded by family.

Family friend, Chrissy Bartz, summed up the impact that Virginia had on those who knew her, “she was everyone’s Mom-mom because she was always at the ready to take care of her friends and family, her village.” She was well known in the community of Goldsboro and the surrounding area for quietly helping those in need, giving what she could throughout her entire life, and as Robin said, always finding room for “one more” in her heart.

Virginia’s son, Bryan, shared that her legacy to her 48 direct descendants is to “keep going and not falter” in the face of tragedy. Virginia had her share of tragedy, having experienced the loss of five of her seven children. Chrissy remarked, “with the amount of loss she had, which for some would be ‘life rocking events,’ she carried on with spunk and passion.”

Bryan said that his mother showed how to properly grieve and then honor the life of those lost by continuing to live, “[she was] everything you want somebody to be.”

Virginia’s obituary highlights her many activities in her village, “she was involved in various community organizations, including being a life member of the Women of the Moose, a member of Mooseheart, and part of the Trinity United Methodist Church as well as the Ladies Auxiliary at Goldsboro Fire Department. Virginia worked at Ragged Robin for approximately 10 years.”

“[Virginia] loved yard sales, socializing, and, above all, cherished the time spent with her grandchildren.”
Chrissy “recognizes that she was an incredibly amazing grandmother,” and Robin shared that even within their large group of family members, “she was an amazing presence.”

Friends and family will share their memories of Virginia Cahall on Sat., Mar. 22, at the Goldsboro Fire Hall, Goldsboro, MD with a celebration of life. She lived a life marked by tragedy, but never sadness. She enjoyed simple pleasures and gave to others willingly. She lived for nine decades, but, as Robin said, for Virginia Minnie Cahall, “90 years is not enough.”
